The Times of India has a weekly supplement on personal finance where they cover stock, mutual funds and the like. Along with it, they also tend to feature some celebrity and have her talk about her finances and where she invests, etc.
As long as the celebrities are respected ones, who have clearly made a lot of money, some of us may be interested to know what they did with their money. I mean, where they invested, and the like.
But this week, they featured Rakhi Sawant there! For the reputation that she has, I wonder WHO would be interested to know about her investments? I mean, if it was a page 3 feature, well and good. The piece belongs there.
But on the financial pages, where you expect serious value to be present, WHY feature her? I thought it was degrading the paper itself.

It may offend you but what I feel is “TOI IS A COMPLETE PAGE 3 PAPER”
Your post makes me remind of “Aishwarya coming on the front page many times in TOI for reasons like who will get married to Aishwarya”
I mean I would care about it if I would get a chance to get married to her else why should we bother.
But,Rakhie Sawant is unbearable and if she also features in such columns in TOI,it means “TOI IS TAKING ITS READERS FOR GRANTED AND VERY SOON IT WOULD NEAR ITS END”

I am not at all offended by your feelings about TOI 🙂
In fact, I quite agree with you on the quality of the paper.
Having said that, I doubt if its close to its end.. unfortunately, if anything, its only growing stronger and bigger. Which is because it does not need you or me, to keep its circulation flying and advertisers coming in, with fatter cheques!
I have not quite understood this – whether they are giving society what society wants, OR if they are actually able to drive society to a certain thought process, on account of its presentation and coverage of issues…?
